World Health Day was Monday, April 7, and it got us thinking – What are YOU doing for your health? There are the obvious tips – eat right and exercise, but some of these ways to improve your health may surprise you.
1. Plan your days.
By planning your meals, your exercise routine, and even your downtime, you can significantly reduce stress and improve your mental health. Plus planning ahead can keep you from munching on junk food all day or from skipping your workout.
Volunteering your time and efforts is of course a great way to give back to your community. But did you know it’s also good for your health? It can boost your self-confidence and fight off depression, as well as improve your physical health by reducing chronic pain and even heart disease. Studies have also shown that those who volunteer have a lower mortality rate than those who don’t.
3. Keep Crunchies on hand.
Did you see this one coming? Crunchies are a nutritious, filling snack to have on hand, whether you’re at work, home, or on the go. You’ll be able to avoid the drive-thru and vending machines that are almost always full of high-calorie, fattening, sugary items.
4. Take a Vacation!
No really, it’s good for your health. Everyone needs a break every now and then. Even just a weekend away can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and even boost your immune system. There’s no way you’re boss can say no with that evidence!
5. Drink your water.
Studies have shown that over two-thirds of all Americans don’t drink enough water. Your body uses up to 3 quarts of water a day just for normal functions. If you’re exposed to high altitudes or high temps, or if you’re working out regularly, the body is going to need even more water. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty; make it a habit. And hey, if you don’t like the way water tastes, drop some Crunchies blueberries or any of our other fruits into your glass to give your water a sweet kick!
